As i was reading this i was thinking that having a big house is like having a big purse......it just makes you think you need more things to fill it up, when you really don't! I do see the benefit of maybe a guest room, but most of my guests would be perfectly happy taking over my room and kicking me out to the sofa ;) I have a fairly small house and it suits me just fine. Less places for my 2 year old to hide

Totally agreed ... sad story, though: I'm buying a new house and just found out I can't get an AA mortgage in Wisconsin. :(

We've been asking ourselves each time we go shopping "Do we NEED this, or do we WANT this?"

We really need very little. It's empowering.

That's awful. It's too bad you couldn't just not pay for that one, walk outside and call in one for the reduced price!

Another similar website, is hospitalityclub.org. I met the Founder Kjell, while traveling in Chiapas, Mexico. He is incredibly intelligent and a very welcoming, kind person. His website is full of many, many other people just like him. However, Hospitalityclub, Couchsurfing and the like do not exist without drawbacks. There have unfortunately been reports of rapes and other violent crimes that have occurred during these types of encounters. I am certainly not advising anyone to NOT use a service like this, as I have at times been active on both sites, both as a host and a hostee, and met some wonderful people. However, I do advise that anyone who is considering using Couschsurfing or Hospitalityclub, make sure to check out the people they are going to stay with. Both sites allow people to leave comments annd recommendations. Perhaps meet them first in a public place. Make sure friends and relatives know exactly where you are.

With all that having been said, DO enjoy using Couchsurfing, Hospitalityclub or even warmshowers(if you're bike touring). DO be safe about it, and DO explore the world!

Hey, Jonathan!

My first reaction was, these videos are well put together with decent actors and everything, but I'm not sure an everyday potential customer would "get" them. As a former CU employee, I understand what you're trying to say, but the videos themselves don't really explain what the differences are between banks and credit unions... customer service? That's not the whole story. Member ownership & dividends, community, not-for-profit status, people helping people, all that stuff could be played up more. With little background, if you're not an insider, the humor could come across as a bit... weird. :)

That's just my take on it. :)

Added to the list of generic low fat products to avoid - Stop-n-Shop brand lowfat pesto. It's green. But it's goo. It came out of the container in one big glob and no amount of heat or stirring would break it up.

Yuk!

My husband says "Just add some olive oil to it." That defeats the purpose of being low fat! But it's the only way pesto should be consumed IMHO.

Cheers!
